Ocean Climatology
The links on the left allow one to view climatological distributions of oceanographic data that are discussed in the Marshall and Plumb text.
The links enable you not only to view electronic versions of the figures but also to access the data on which the plots are based.
For example, the image below shows the bathymetry of the ocean as it appears in Fig. 9.1 of the text book. Now – and this is neat – if you click on the image you will be drawn through to the Lamont Doherty data archive which will allow you to interact with the data: for example re-plot it, zoom in on particular regions, manipulate and download the data to your computer etc.
